IPSA
Natural Resources Development Institute (IPSA) is a research institute and development of natural resources which covers the fields of science and technology to develop and utilize natural resources for sustainable development. IPSA was founded in 1996 as a learning centre for sustainable farming in Bali, as the result of collaboration with a couple of institutions, among others Indonesian Kyusei Nature Farming Societies (IKNFS), Effective Microorganisms Research Center (EMRO), Asian Pacific Natural Agricultural Network (APNAN), International Nature Farming Research Center (INFRC), and Yayasan Bumi Lestari (Earth Foundation Lestari) or commonly known as YBL.
IPSA was established goal is to educate and train farmers agri-business professionals, researchers, agricultural extension, students and businessmen with interests in the development of sustainable agriculture and environmentally friendly technology with. Effective Microorganisms (EM). EM technology is environmentally friendly technologies that can be applicable in the agricultural sector which includes agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, forestry, environmental processing, waste management and health. EM technology is a technology that utilizes a variety of natural resources which have been disposed and not been utilized into a useful value added materials. Technology EM (Effective Microorganism) was first developed by Prof. Dr. Teruo Higa, a professor of the Faculty of Horticulture University of the Ryukyus Okinawa Japan. Until now, EM technology has been utilized and developed by more than 50 countries around the world.
Effective Microorganisms (EM) is a mixed culture of beneficial microorganism, mostly consisting of photosynthetic bacteria (Rhodopseudomanas spp), lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus spp) and fermented substance/yeast (Sacchatomyces spp) . Because the benefits are so wide ranging and broad, then the EM Technology obtains a special attention from the education and training programs conducted by the Institute of Natural Resources Development (IPSA). It provides counseling and training to farmers on environmentally friendly farming and EM technology. Other activities encompass educating youth and student / student in the field of application of environmentally friendly farming and EM technology, holding An exhibition and field demonstrations of environmentally friendly agriculture with EM Technology, conducting research and development of sustainable farming systems and efficient ,environmentally friendly energy , fostering cooperation between government and private institutions to develop and implementing environmentally friendly farming systems.
